You know that old saying, “time flies when you are having fun”? Well, it flies regardless. The last six months have been filled with amazing blessings, beautiful memories, and many difficult moments. We have tried to write update posts a million times and the heaviness of it often felt too sad, too heavy. Combine all of that with a worldwide pandemic and Corona-schooling 14 kids, well…time flew.
A few days ago, I received a text from a dear friend who must have sensed we needed a little lift (Thanks Tiffany). Those come often around here — little God nudges that remind us that we are loved by Him and by our friends. She offered support and then asked how Ben was doing. I did not know how to respond. Enter the “too heavy” part I mentioned earlier. This is a friend that I would feel completely comfortable being vulnerable and real with. My hesitation was in leaving the heaviness on her. I asked Ben how I should respond and we had a conversation about the challenges of being real without sounding like whiners. Because, let’s face it, nobody wants to hang around the Debbie-downers all the time especially when they have been incredibly blessed. We also recognize however, that this is real life. This is our real life. There is no way to skip over the hard parts or romanticize them.
So, we’ve decided to be real. To be vulnerable. We aren’t Debbie Downers all the time. In fact, I think we laugh and joke a lot more than we cry. We want to share more with you. We are going to write more. We are starting a vlog to show you all just how crazy it is around here. Of course, this will mean some not fun and heavy stuff. But we hope you’ll join us anyway because time flies and we don’t want to miss a moment.
Much love,
Bridget, Ben, and the B Team
I’m really glad you’re doing this. You’re on my heart all the time and I’d like to know how you’re doing. I think you’ll be glad to have a record of all this craziness, too. Not sure when you’re going to have time going to have time for it… love you 😘
